The Beaches Are Dirty

The first time i saw this photo, by Mike Lau, featured above, i was like, "WOW." This is an amazing photograph, i told him. That was months ago, and it was alongside other photographs, one of which was, he told me, to be considered, quite possibly, for the album cover art for the debut album of Dirty Beaches. It was the label's call, though, and the likelihood of this photo ending up on the cover seemed, at least at the time, incredibly slim.

Fast-forward a few months and, holy fuck, the label picked this stunner for the cover! A quick google search for "Dirty Beaches" and "Badlands" revealed, to my surprise, that blogs the world over are pimping this album, and, along with it, Mike Lau's album art. Damn. It's even on Pitchfork. WOW. Congrats, Mike, and congrats to Alex on his debut album, which is getting some amazing reviews.
