I'll be the first to admit my interest was piqued when fellow The Shhhow artist Lauren Jo spoke of "Cake War." Supposedly it's an all-out, no-holds-barred, battle-to-the-finish: an epic clash of the sculptural, glassical, and ceramical titans. Say what? And the event's flyer further adds to its ambiguity — the image of two anthropomorphic cakes devouring each other is mildly disturbing, to say the least. Perhaps it's more akin to the idea of hiphop battling, or "breakdance fighting," a test of wits, style, and skill. May the best cake win.
