OK, so here's the deal: Chris Yogi, a Hawaii-born, Los Angeles-based filmmaker, is gearing up to shoot his latest project, Obake: A Short Film, here in Hawaii, and he could use some help.
How so? Film—that beautiful, flickering, nothing-looks-quite-like-it medium—is seriously expensive, and Chris needs about 5 G's to get this film off the ground. In terms of a film budget, that's pennies. (Seriously. I'd gather that five thousand, on a normal film budget, would barely pay for 'Party-Kine Stuff' for the cast and crew's after party; see: 'Miscellaneous Items').
I had the privilege of interviewing Yogi, two years ago, for Flux Hawaii, and was instantly struck by his commitment to making films about Hawaii, in Hawaii. (FYI Chris will be hiring an entirely local cast and crew for this project.) At the time of this writing, Chris has raised 1,165 bones, and is well on his way to getting this film made.
